Ouch. I hear these things a lot. It makes me sad.

I used to as well. I often think that Jesus was directing that to the audience at that time. He knew what was going to happen to Jerusalem within a generation.
Do people use them now for today?
I've been around people like that.
They always seem to forget about Philippians 4:8.
Hope things improve in this area.
